12th Grade English

12th grade English will focus on the techniques necessary to write and cite a research paper.  It will also explore the connections between science and literature.

We read the following novels in 12th grade that are supplemented with short stories, poems and other materials

The Pleasure of Finding Things Out
Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed
House of the Scorpion
Einstein’s Dream
An Inconvenient Truth

Each reading assignment is accompanied by a writing assignment in the form of an essay, journal entry, research paper or story.

Nothing beats a good performance.  This is true for the classroom as well.  Makiing students perform narratives, plays, poetry, almost anything, is a helpful way to not only build on their understand of the text, but also improve speech and acting skills, which are helpful through nearly subject.
